Glad to see that Faye's thesis is being picked up on again. He got the timeline somewhat wrong, but he was essentially correct, as we can now see. We shouldn't trust to "collapse" (an idea that is typically used to justify inaction) but we can see this as an opportunity to carve out a lasting space for our people.

Very well put. I agree, his timeline is somewhat off—but predicting the future is a notoriously tricky business, so I’m prepared to forgive him on that score. And you’re right, of course: trusting to collapse is no strategy at all. The key is to build institutions with that future possibility in mind, to hit the ground running, so to speak, when it happens; but I guess we shouldn’t underestimate the Regime’s ability to weather this crisis and others. “Collapse” may yet be a long way off.
